Our Food Donations to the NHS #ThankYouNHS

Even before the lockdown, our business was always keen on helping our local community. It is crucial to support each other in difficult times, even more so when we have the resources to do so. This year, we arranged food donations to people in need in collaboration with  Guildford Action (you can find more information for the organisation here: https://www.guildfordaction.org.uk). We always provide our customers with the best quality food, so in our shop everything is freshly baked and no pastries are sold the following day. Around closing time, and in the case we have any food left in our disposal, we prepare several boxes filled with pastries (vegan, vegetarian, meaty, sweet) and deliver them to Guildford Action.

We are happy to announce that despite the difficult circumstances we are experiencing amidst the lockdown, Fresco is still trying to help as much as it can. We are all in this together and we have to be there for one another. In collaboration with experienceguildford (you can find more information for the organisation here: http://experienceguildford.co.uk) we arranged a large food donation to Surrey Drive which is part of the NHS Charity body and aims to provide food supplies to the families of NHS workers (you can find more information for the organisation here https://www.rschcharity.org.uk/fundraisers/surrey-drive). This donation included 30kilos of oranges, over 30 portions of traditional Greek syrup sweets and 10 bottles of orange juice as a treat to all of those working hard to keep us safe. We would like to take some time and thank all the wonderful people at experienceguildford (with special thanks to Amanda, Emma and Liv who were always there to answer our questions and help us come in contact with right people) for their support to local businesses at this challenging time and the amazing opportunities they organise in which local businesses can get involved.

Moreover, apart from our donation to SurreyDrive we also delivered food to the Royal Surrey Hospital on our own initiative another 4-5 times. We prepared large orders, each time including different types of freshly baked, but also packaged goods for the NHS staff. Most of the times, we delivered the food directly to the hospital’s reception, so it could be distributed  to the NHS workers who were at the hospital upon our delivery slot. We also arranged a big food donation to the NHS on the 20th of April after communicating with the Director of HR and Organisational Development for the NHS Foundation Trust for Royal Surrey, Mrs. Louise Hall. In that specific delivery, we provided the Royal Surrey with over 30 portions of freshly baked, nutritious food, as well as numerous packaged goods to show our thanks and appreciation to these people for keeping us safe.

Fresco is #HereToDeliver and assist its local heroes in times of need. We can get through this pandemic all together, caring for one another. Stay safe and positive.
